Dublin’s Active Travel Dashboard

We’re delighted to welcome Jack Kavanagh as a speaker for our upcoming webinar on Dublin’s Active Travel Dashboard.

Jack is the Open Data Lead at Smart Dublin, an initiative of the four Dublin Local Authorities that connects academia, technology providers, and citizens to transform public services. He co-ordinates, harmonises, and promotes open data across the four Dublin local authorities and manages Dublin’s open data portal, Dublinked.

In this session, Jack will share the story behind the creation of Dublin’s Active Travel Dashboard:

The starting point – A February 2024 Active Travel & Data Workshop, where local authorities, academia, and the National Transport Authority came together to tackle the challenge of open access to active travel data in Dublin.
Key outcomes – The creation of a ‘one-stop shop’ for active travel data, insights from tools like the Google Environmental Insights Explorer, and evidence of the health benefits of active travel.
Collaboration in action – The launch of an Active Travel and Data Forum to share learnings and guide development.
The result – In February 2025, the official launch of the Active Travel Dashboard, a powerful tool for planners, policymakers, and the public to better understand and promote sustainable mobility in Dublin.
