Ireland’s built environment relies heavily on virgin materials, with usage rates above 90%—significantly higher than leading EU countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, where rates stand at 55–65%. To address this challenge, we’re exploring what a Circular Hub for the Built Environment could look like in Ireland.
This webinar will bring together industry voices to discuss practical pathways for increasing circularity, reducing waste, and maximising the re-use of materials in construction and demolition.
Key Questions We’ll Explore:
With Ireland’s high rates of backfilling soil and stones, how can we shift towards high-value recycling in construction and demolition?
Which materials should be prioritised for reuse, and what new skills will be needed?
What knowledge services—from insurance to legislation—are required to support industry transition?
Which stakeholders must be engaged to drive and leverage meaningful change?
Should a Circular Hub take the form of a physical processing and storage centre, or a mobile service aligned with projects?
The session will include a presentation, interactive discussion, and Q&A, offering participants the chance to share insights and ideas on shaping Ireland’s circular future in the built environment.
