Project Description

Arup for Salmon Weir Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge.  The new Salmon Weir Pedestrian and Cycle bridge, links the cathedral area to the city centre, and provides a new public space with the deck widening at the centre over the river. The slender design, comprising a semi-elliptical arch, is sensitive to its surroundings. The bridge draws, pedestrians and cycle traffic away from the existing Salmon Weir Bridge improving safety and meeting the needs of the wider Galway Transport Strategy.
