Project Description

McCrae Consulting Engineers for St Michaels College Redevelopment.  The standard of entry in the Microfirm category was very high. The panel have decided to award special commendation to “St Michael’s College Redevelopment “ by McCrae Consulting Engineers. The project involved extensions to both the Junior & Senior Schools and construction of a science block on a site previously occupied by a pool. The project was complex and the team overcame significant challenges during both design and construction phases, dealing efficiently with problems generated by a tight site, many existing structures, a live school environment and the restrictions of the pandemic.

In addition to recognising engineering excellence in member firm projects, two other awards were presented during the awards ceremony. The first of these, the ACEI President’s Award, acknowledges substantial achievements in progressing the engineering profession.

This year’s recipient of the ACEI President’s Award is Damien Owens, Director General, Engineers Ireland, who was presented with the award for his outstanding contribution to, and support of, the engineering profession in its sustainability and academic objectives both in Ireland and Overseas.
