FIDIC launches Climate Change Charter at COP26
The FIDIC Climate Change Charter sets out how we address climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience of the built environment in the years and decades to come. It outlines a series of actions to be taken by the following stakeholders:
- FIDIC itself
- FIDIC member associations
- Project teams and schemes
- Companies
- Individual professional engineers
This charter is only the beginning. There will be guides, briefings, notes and tools that also need developing by a dedicated FIDIC Climate Change Task Group to assist FIDIC, member associations, companies, and projects to commit to moving forward to achieving Net Zero.
In addition, a dedicated campaign website has been developed under the banner FIDIC for Global Goals to aid this initiative. The website will serve as a long term campaign supporting the United Nations Global Goals and allow for signing up to FIDIC’s charter and serve as a resource hub for content, case studies, and best practices in the industry.
FIDIC encourages member organisations, individuals and the entire global infrastructure and built environment sector to meet this challenge and sign up to the FIDIC Climate Change Charter here.
