Join us on Tuesday 8th July at 12.30 for an insightful ACEI webinar exploring the Disembodied Carbon – Whole-Life Carbon of Construction & What To Do About It, Focusing on Concrete
Key Speakers:
Conor Hayes is Head of Sustainability at the Irish Concrete Federation which is the national representative body for the aggregate and concrete industry. He joined the ICF after sixteen years at Arup where he was a structural engineer, multi-disciplinary PM and sustainability consultant on landmark projects such as Brunel Building, London and Bolands Quay, Dublin. At Arup, he was Global Structural Sustainability Lead & sat on the company’s Net Zero Carbon Steering Group.
With growing public awareness, adoption of new regulations & corporate targets the topic of whole-life carbon (WLC) will increasingly impact the construction industry. Addressing WLC in a meaningful way is tricky for a fragmented sector with sometimes complicated supply chains and rigid divisions between designers and builders. Conor will speak about where in our buildings the carbon is and what we can do about measuring this carbon. With a focus on concrete, he will talk about how engineering designers and the concrete industry can work better together to reduce embodied carbon.
