This public realm and active travel scheme delivers a sub-regional park and a continuous, car-free riverside promenade. The Works included Atlantic Pond enhancements, flood-storage/SuDS “Blue Marina” infrastructure, accessible bridges and boardwalks, premium surfacing and granite kerbs, feature lighting, seating, signage and biodiversity measures, while protecting heritage assets.

A 40 megalitre per day potable Water Treatment Plant replacing an older facility. The plant can be extended to 80 megalitre per day and currently provides water to over 70% of the City’s population. Site levels were raised significantly to prevent flooding by the river Lee with the scheme now protected against the 1 in 1,000 year flood event. The works included laying a connection to the Inniscarra Treatment Plant thus providing added resilience of supply. The Consulting Engineer had to overcome poor ground conditions, a restricted site, archaeology, and environmental impacts. (more…)
