The winning project in this category is the Killaloe Bypass, Brian Boru Bridge & R494 Improvement Scheme for Clare County Council by RPS Consulting Engineers. The scheme comprises a 2.0km greenfield bypass of Killaloe, a new crossing of the River Shannon via the landmark Brian Boru Bridge, and a 3.2km upgrade of the R494.
Appointed as Employer’s Representative, RPS managed detailed design, procurement and construction, successfully controlling programme, cost, safety and risk in accordance with Transport Infrastructure Ireland Project Management Guidelines. A structured execution framework, integrated programme management and a live risk register ensured tight control throughout the full life cycle of project delivery.
Proactive front-end risk management with early ground investigations, ecological mitigation and archaeological works de-risked the construction contract and enabled reliable pricing and programme certainty. Delivered safely, on programme and within budget, the project demonstrates excellence in project management and leadership.
