The project involved the construction of a new Above Ground Installation (AGI), with trunk main realignments, designed to overcome a potential single point of failure on the national gas network. The scheme included the construction of a new AGI and the rerouting of existing trunk gas mains to provide a more resilient national supply network. The Consulting Engineer reviewed 13 no. alternative sites along with multiple pipeline route alternatives. The works required step by step construction sequencing including live gas main ‘hot taps’ so as to avoid interruption to gas supplies. The scheme also included significant site environmental enhancements.
