acei.ie

The initial phase of the Governments 5 Phase Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business begins on Monday 18 May.  The roadmap provides details of each stage of the Governments planned easing of COVID-19 restrictions and are an indication of what might happen if everything goes well with restricting the spread of COVID-19 in Ireland.

Each phase identifies those businesses and activities which can reopen provided social distancing measures have been put in place.  This initial phase includes for Construction sites to reopen as Construction workers fall within the category of outdoor workers.  Social distancing requirements continue to apply.  In order to ensure a safe reopening of sites the ACEI along with CIF and other Construction Industry Council (CIC) members encourage members to ensure that the necessary risk assessments are completed for sites to ensure that all the required precautions are in place.  Members are therefore encouraged to ensure that all of their employees adhere to these requirements and associated protocols, as required by the contractor and the health and safety personnel.  Please refer to the CIF’s document on
Standard Operating Procedures for guidelines in particular page 11, Return to work requirements for sites which identifies the requirement for each site worker to have completed a CIF C-19 online induction programme, further details are here.

Each phase of
the roadmap for reopening society and business will only come into effect if the medical advice from the National Public Health Emergency Team says that it is right to do so.

The Governments advice is still to stay at home as much as you can to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
