Mr Kerry O’Sullivan has been elected President of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland. He is Chairman of RPS Consulting Engineers.

Kerry O’Sullivan is a 1969 civil engineering graduate of University College, Cork. He then worked for Wicklow County Council (1969-1974) on the development of major infrastructural projects in the County. He joined M.C O’Sullivan, Consulting Engineers (MCOS) in Cork in 1974, where he built the company transport sector, before returning to Dublin in 1982 to open and direct the MCOS office. Kerry has played a major role in the implementation of the Governments infrastructural development strategy. His range of infrastructural experiences includes the Development of Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant for The Greater Dublin Area, Dun Laoghaire Water Supply Scheme, Mullingar By-Pass, Dunleer By-Pass motorway, Dunleer-Dundalk Motorway, Dundalk By-Pass, M50 South Eastern Motorway Dublin, M3/M50 Kells motorway, Carrickmacross By-Pass, Ballincollig By-Pass Cork, N6 Galway-Ballinasloe Motorway, Limerick Tunnel Project, N7 Limerick-Nenagh, N11 Kilmacanouge to Glen of Downs and N11 Wyattville interchange.
He was the MCOS Director in charge of the development of The National Road Needs Study, which was commissioned by the National Roads Authority (NRA). This study is a comprehensive assessment of the works required to bring the national road network in Ireland as a whole up to the necessary standards and to maintain these standards as traffic volumes increase. It sets out a proposed type of roadway for each segment of the network in order to cater for projected traffic flows over the period 2000-2019. It was used to determine the strategy for National Roads included in the National Development Plan 2000-2006.
He became a Board Director of MCOS in 1980 and was appointed Managing Director in 1995, a position he held until the acquisition of MCOS by the RPS Group in 2002, when he was appointed Chairman of RPS Consulting Engineers.
He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of The Institution of Engineers of Ireland, Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, in London and the Institution of Water and Environmental Managers.
