The course will be held over 2 days and will take the form of structured lectures covering 5 Modules, based on the ‘Designing for Safety in Construction’ Manual and the Briefing Notes published by the professional bodies (ACEI-Engineers Ireland-RIAI-SCS ). The lectures will be interspersed with short workshops, involving active involvement by course participants, reinforcing the critical steps for designers in meeting their obligations and generating the key deliverables for designers over a variety of practical construction cases. The course will include an open book examination.
Course Aim
To provide practical guidance to designers on how to comply with their duties under Safety Health & Welfare at Work legislation
The course will include structured workshops and also an exam/assessment element. On successful completion of this assessment, participants on the course will be awarded an ACEI/Engineers Ireland approved ‘DSC Certificate’ and will be eligible to enroll in the DIT module of the DSC course programme.
Who should attend?
The duties on designers under the regulations apply to each individual designer. Accordingly, the Association are urging member companies to arrange for each design engineer employed in the company (from the most senior to the most junior in the firm) to register for one of these 2-day certificate courses.

3rd Party Certification – We are pleased to announce that ACEI is now an accredited Partner of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in relation to the provision of continuing Professional Development Certificates in Designing for Safety in Construction – DIT shall be responsible for overseeing and monitoring academic standards in respect of the CPD Certificates in Designing for Safety in Construction delivered by ACEI on behalf of DIT. Post-grad students(National Qualification Level 9) enrolled in these courses will be eligible to register for DIT Certification securing ‘academic credits’ towards post grad degrees and diplomas.
